Pysch
Psych
Psych is a great show about family, friends, and relationships it’s intriguing and sometimes intense. But the show‘s main messages are contradictory to what the public should be here. It takes place in Santa Barbara where a self-pronounced psychic .solves mysteries. But the shows two main cops are always the one who either are on the wrong track, arrest the obvious suspect, basically their pictured as good cops but every time they arrest the man Shawn ( the protagonist) finds the real killer. The show seems to be telling us that cops are almost always wrong with their suspect and must have outside help to find the real one. Which tells us what cops aren’t actually doing their jobs and most of the time get the wrong guy. Is this the message the show wants to present to the public to always trust the underdog, and have little faith in your cities police force. Not to mention how many murderers there are seeing as the murder rate per year on the show is 26 per year while in real life it’s one to two. This same idea doesn’t just happen in psych there are all kinds of shows where this same sort of thing happens shows like monk, Dexter, the mentalist all have protagonists who are portrayed as smart individuals who can easily solve cases faster than the police. So why would the writers give this message to the viewers, maybe to say that we shouldn’t have faith in our police force or maybe not that just that we should always look deeper than the obvious. Maybe it’s something more positive something like we should’ve always look passed an average person because there could be more that meets the eye. Which you never know could be the whole point of the show. But then why add the part with the cops why not let them solve a few cases and get the bag guy, it could mean then that the protagonist is unable to which would make him seem less great than the show is trying to make him be. A show may have mixed messages may be known or unbenounced to them. But sometimes shows should take in more account the fact that sometimes the audience can take a show the wrong way like for me example it was still enjoyable but you wonder sometimes the cops can’t solve a mystery or why all of them are so complex instead of just shooting someone theory hide leave clues just to be arrested. But sometimes shows give off messages contradicting our own ideas and what we think is right.
How are the protagonists always around the murderers? For example in Murder, She Wrote wherever Jessica Fletcher goes murder follows and that show had twelve seasons. Thats a lot of murders!
