Media Blog Reflection

Media Blog Reflection

I've always had what I thought of as a normal consumption of media apart from adds on tv and others around Sacramento my lack of social media has limited it a lot. This I think is a good thing because a
an unhealthy consumption of media leads people to start to believe anything they read, hear, see instead of having a normal skepticism surrounding ads. I realize that often I find myself on my phone instead of doing homework of studying which I tend to regret later so looking at my bad habits and trying to fix this has helped. I look at ads now differently, analyzing their use of the consumers emotions than actually taking note of what the ad is trying to get me to do, which in some ways in good because I can be less fooled but false advertising but, in another way, you lose the magic behind any ads such as Disney and other childhood brands. As I said I’ve been trying to work on not using my phone as much watching less of the little amount of TV I watch because I can’t remember the last time, I read a book just because. It's important to have media literacy because you don’t want to be so easily manipulated by companies just to by a product with a false pretense with the idea that this will give you happiness or friends, and to realize you have to do this on your own without products you don’t really need. It's important to be educated in forms of media so we don’t become just a mind dead consumer and we know what it means to cross the line of product.

I think overall this journal was helpful, it allowed to take another look at the shows I watch and see what kind of message they really wanted to present to me and their flaws al together I think seeing all the media we experience in a day shows me how much your emotions are being played with just so they can have our money even shows will feature items just so people will become inserted. All together think media has escalated to a point of no return as they go through our personal files and data just to sell us a product, we become so wise of their ways their forced to learn everything about us just to get us to buy their products. Overall, I think this journal was helpful.
