Jaws:more harm than good

Image
When the  1975   blockbuster came out reviews were mixed some said it was too busy other said it was a cultures phenomenon but even still jaws has made a total of 500 million in ticket sales. But how did this affect sharks. The movie displayed an aggressive shark killing off beach bystanders because they enjoyed it. It didn’t help the public's already low perceptions of sharks. The shark in them movie was a great white, this creature is undeniably dangerous with 100s of teeth, an acute sense of smell, and almost 20 feet long and is responsible for the most unprovoked shark attacks. The problem is that jaws not only affected great whites but all shark populations. Almost 50 million sharks a year are killed and people disregard that only 3 and dangerous to people. It also caused beaches attendance to take an all-time low around 1975. But the movie wasn’t all made it rescued he film industry, and made over 260 million. This also started the idea that sharks should...

Pysch

Psych Psych is a great show about family, friends, and relationships it’s intriguing and sometimes intense. But the show‘s main messages are contradictory to what the public should be here. It takes place in Santa Barbara where a self-pronounced psychic .solves mysteries. But the shows two main cops are always the one who either are on the wrong track, arrest the obvious suspect, basically their pictured as good cops but every time they arrest the man Shawn ( the protagonist) finds the real killer. The show seems to be telling us that cops are almost always wrong with their suspect and must have outside help to find the real one. Which tells us what cops aren’t actually doing their jobs and most of the time get the wrong guy. Is this the message the show wants to present to the public to always trust the underdog, and have little faith in your cities police force. Not to mention how many murderers there are seeing as the murder rate per year on the show is 26 per year while in re...

Product Placement

Image
Product Placement Product placement or another name for it is Madison and vines is when manufacturers of goods gain exposure for their products by paying for them to be featured in movies and television. It can be seen in almost any show or movie. It’s in everything we watch were losing television just to become longer adds. When I was younger, I always remembered a very distinct use of product placement it was in one of my first movies Oliver and company. It wasn’t a very well none movie but it was one of the few cassettes tapes my grandmother had. In the middle of a singing number I realized all the billboards were filled with different add companies at first, I thought it was cool because look it was a company, I was familiar with in a movie I liked. It was confusing to me how they did that I thought the movie had just chosen to include these certain companies. The product placement is effectually used when the audience either think highly of the product or notices it in a wa...

Global Warming

Global Warming: who says it best? For my comparison of news site, I chose Natural News and New York times, Natural News is basically news focused on science. So, I chose two articles on global warming. So, I chose two global warming stories from the New York times “How Scientists Cracked the Climate Change Case” and Natural News “Global Warming “science” discovered to be founded on glaring math error that renders thousands of news reports false” Focusing on global warming is complicated though because a site can’t exactly blame global warming on one democrat or republican so we aren’t able to judge them on any political biases. As soon as I longed on to natural news the first story that popped up was “TERRAFORMING has begun: “Global dimming” is a plot to EXTERMINATE humanity by terraforming the atmosphere with SMOG pollution, killing Earth’s food crops and unleashing ecological collapse” which worsened my already skeptical opinions of this news site. As well as the floor to ce...

When Calls The Heart

Image
When Calls The Heart Flipping through the channels you stumble upon the hallmark channel iconic for corny movies and shows involving two helplessly in love people torn apart by obstacles and other factors. But one that comes to mind is a show calls When Called the Heart. This show, very cheesy came to my attention as soon as we found out how Strange the show was. The bases of the plot are set in the west were a school teacher helps a mining town and falls in love with the Mountie stationed there. What’s interesting to me about this show exactly is it complete disinterest of historical details. The show is fictional as it states but it's doesn't seem makes sense. The show is based in 1910s at the heart of an industrial revolution with electricity, water and other commodities coming to richer homes. In this small town we start off with a huge mine explosion and the loss of many of the husbands and sons, as Ms. Thatcher comes, she isn't used to this country life....
