Jaws:more harm than good
When the 1975 blockbuster came out reviews were mixed some said it was too busy other said it was a cultures phenomenon but even still jaws has made a total of 500 million in ticket sales. But how did this affect sharks. The movie displayed an aggressive shark killing off beach bystanders because they enjoyed it. It didn’t help the public's already low perceptions of sharks. The shark in them movie was a great white, this creature is undeniably dangerous with 100s of teeth, an acute sense of smell, and almost 20 feet long and is responsible for the most unprovoked shark attacks. The problem is that jaws not only affected great whites but all shark populations. Almost 50 million sharks a year are killed and people disregard that only 3 and dangerous to people. It also caused beaches attendance to take an all-time low around 1975. But the movie wasn’t all made it rescued he film industry, and made over 260 million.
