The Midriff

The midriff is a caricature who has become prematurely adolescent to fit in with her society most often, she is mostly portrayed as caring for her looks because it's one of her most important assets. While midriffs have been becoming more and more popular girls are now growing up too early because of their desire to be sexualized. We can see in shows that gorgeous actresses are being hired to play average people changing people's views of the average American because a citizen and a character on a show are so different.

I've seen that a show that also uses midriffs is Riverdale. While all the characters are supposed to be sophomores, they were actually 25 and 24 which meant of course they looked much older than the sophomore they were supposed to be. The show even starts off with Archie having an affair with his teacher we may not think about it but he's most likely 15 when this happens while it’s not impractical to be sexually active at this age it's just odd that it's with his teacher something's that not very normal. The girls of the show are seen as midriffs because both veronica and Cheryl are seen in outfits that make them out to be more adult than they are. And make the show more eventful than a normal teen's life. The ironic fact about Cole Sprouse being on the show is the fact he played a 15-year-old in a show when he was actually 15 years ago which shows how viewer’s interests have changed over the years and what consumers have to offer. The fact that the female characters in Riverdale are made to look so much older and mature in the show of how they really should be shows an example of a midriff.
